Keisha contributed to the early stages of the Tau Henare marae ablutions block project, particularly during the conceptual design phase. Under the mentorship and guidance of Architect Kiri, she facilitated a wānanga session with whānau, harnessing their collective vision to inform concept designs. The outcomes of the wānanga were then shared back with the whānau.
Being a descendant of Tau Henare marae and connected through her Tairua lineage, this project held special significance for Keisha. It provided her with a unique opportunity to collaborate withher whānau and strengthen her relationship with her people and sense of place. The projects importance made more significant by the invaluable guidance provided by both Kiri and Jade. It remains the most meaningful project she has had the privilege of contributing to.
In March 2023, Keisha earned her Masters in Architecture with honors. Her thesis, received highly commended at Te Kāhui Whaihanga Resene SDA’s 2022. Keisha’s approach to design is centered on the principles of community-oriented design, where she values the harmonious interplay between people, spaces, nature and the preservation of cultural knowledge.
