Tūhono ā Kura Vision:

Hapū are an essential part of the kura in their rohe, strengthening Te Tīriti o Waitangi into

the future.

This kaupapa, Tūhono a Kura was established in 2020 with a purpose to strengthen hapū and kura relationships for the benefit of the students in the wider Whangārei area from early childhood and kōhanga through to secondary school and tertiary. Ngā Hapū o Whangārei and Ministry of Education’s Toikuranui Investment Fund initially supported this kaupapa to provide Te Ao Māori Localised Curriculum learning resources, staff induction field trips to introduce the diverse whakapapa and cultural landscapes of their kura and relationship agreement templates for hapū to use in their relationships with kura.

Matakohe provided administration and support for Tuhono a Kura over 2020 to 2022. The kaupapa can now be found via the details below
